The Reception

The reception will be take place at the Hotel Allegro with a cocktail reception beginning at 6:30PM. Following the cocktail hour, dinner and dancing will take place in the historic Walnut Room. The Walnut Room with it's 15-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling-windows and original 1926 fixtures, is the most spectacular ballroom in all of Chicago.
Below is a brief history of the hotel
1894: The Eitel Brothers build the original forty-foot Hotel & Restaurant Bismarck.1900: The Eitel Brothers pioneer the "comforts of luxury" by adding iceboxes with mechanical refrigeration.
1912: The dining rooms are air-conditioned.
1914: During WWl, the German "Bismarck" name is dropped and renamed the Randolph Hotel.
1918: The name changes back to the Bismarck Hotel.
1924: The original Bismarck Hotel is razed.
1926: A stunning 600-room Bismarck Hotel opens. Included in the new hotel are the 2500-seat vaudeville Palace Theatre and the 20-story Metropolitan Office Building.
1956: The Wirtz Family purchases the hotel and installs air conditioning throughout, along with automatic elevators and telephones.
1996: A group of local investors purchases the hotel from the Wirtz family and embarks on a $31 million dollar renovation that embraces the Art Deco design and takes the hotel to a new level.
1998: Hotel Allegro Chicago debuts, joining the collection of Kimpton Hotels. Paying homage to the commitment to revitalize the nearby theatre district and to its musically inclined name, the boutique hotel offers an upbeat, entertaining destination.
